Now is a great time to start thinking about the college financial aid process and ways to boost college savings. The earlier you start, the more confident and relaxed you will feel when it is time to apply for financial aid. Join Jessica Whittier, College Access Counselor with the Finance Authority of Maine for this 1-hour workshop as we talk about all things paying for college. This workshop is offered by FAME in partnership with adult education programs across Aroostook, Hancock, Penobscot and Washington Counties. This is live online with FAME via ZOOM.

During this session, you will learn how to hide data, split and freeze a window, create ranges, understand the name manager, learn additional functions, copy and paste special, sort data, and learn the power of filters. Some examples of using Microsoft Excel as practical tools include the amortization table, 20 top functions companies want their employees to know, and pivot tables. The design of this course includes 2-3 hours of work with the soft-ware between sessions to gain maximum benefit from the sessions. This is a live online class using ZOOM.

Come and learn how to construct, set up, and maintain a worm bin to compost kitchen vegetable waste in order to recycle it as plant food. Join Jock Robie as he discusses the harvesting of worm castings and vermicompost for gardening and houseplants as well as “worm tea”! Each student will set up their own worm bin with worms to take home. All materials and worms are supplied at no extra charge. Jock Robie has over eight years of practical experience designing, building, and using worm bins to compost kitchen waste. He feeds his 40 worm bins close to 35 pounds per week of kitchen scraps. The Maine Driving Dynamics course is a driver improvement course that is designed to improve a student's defensive driving awareness. This 5-hour course includes discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine's highways. Our goal is to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce vehicle-related crashes. A student who completes the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record and may be eligible for insurance discount. Questions regarding your license should be addressed to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles at 207-624-9000.
